ArseWEB - number 11 Marc Overmars

Summer 2000: Marc has left us for Barcelona. we are currently waiting to see who our new number 11 will be.

Winger

  • Born: 29th March 1973, Ernst, Netherlands.
  • Height 5' 8", Weight 11st 5lb
  • Previous clubs: Go Ahead Eagles, Willem II, Ajax.
  • Joined Arsenal from Ajax 17th June 1997 (undisclosed fee)
  • Overmars grew up on the family farm. During the potato harvest, he put a yoke around his body and pulled along the cart into which the rest of the family dumped the crop.
  • The young Marc growing up in Holland idolised Arsenal. He wrote the names of Ajax and Arsenal on one of his school exercise books as the teams he wanted to play for in the future.
  • League championship winner 1997-98
  • FA Cup winner 1998 (scored first goal in final)
  • Charity Shield winner 1998
  • Dutch championship winner 1994, 1995, 1996 (all with Ajax)
