A week of English Football - 12 October 00

Well after our triumphant win over Manchester United and that goal from Mr Henry, the team had a break (why does it come when the time are firing on all cylinders?) and attentions turn to England.

We all know what happened against Germany and Finland and it has been an odd week, with two Arsenal captains, same great saves from Big Dave against Finland, Parlour's disallowed goal, Keegan going and rumours about Arsene being the next England manager! Last night in the office we had the radio on and various websites to keep us updated on the score and when Parlour missed(!), I got the blame as I was the only Arsenal fan in the office. Mind you he made a great run and the ball was over the line. Bloody linesmen, funny how they can never make a decision at Highbury!

I came into work this morning and my boss who is a Chelsea fan said he wanted to talk to me about my future. I was a bit worried and then he said I was being fired as I was an Arsenal fan! He said he had given me warning before and I had done nothing to change this and to top it all my team were doing quite well. He said if I could leave now, he'd forward my bags! Does he think that will help Chelsea? (He was joking, I hope.)

On to the weekend when we face old boy Merson and the Villa boys and the return of Patrick Vieira.
