Round 3

  • To be played Monday 13th December, kick-off 7.45pm. Live on Sky Sports.
We were expecting a move to the Sunday because of the UEFA Cup game in France on the Thursday before. But given that we might be playing in the quarter-final of the Worthington Cup on Wednesday 15th, does a move to this Monday really make sense? Or could it be that there will be completely different squads for the 2 matches...? Still, got to get past Middlesbrough first....
(well, all that's been cleared up, at least, thanks to Boro's lucky win over our kids. The decision to move the Blackpool game to the Monday turns out to be perfect.)
Arsenal 3 - 1 Blackpool (see reports)
  • See Arsenal vs Blackpool page for Blackpool links and head-to-head stats.
  • Arsenal first played 'Pool in 1896, but it wasn't till the 25th meeting of the 2 sides, in 1937, that the Seasiders managed to beat the Gunners.
  • Against that, there's the fact that in 3 FA Cup matches between the sides, Arsenal have never beaten Blackpool.
  • But then again, there's the fact that Blackpool are currently second from bottom of division 2 with a team described by Seasiders.net webmaster as "total garbage, worst Blackpool side ever seen".
Full 3rd round draw Note that the "Lucky Loser" playing Aston Villa in the last tie listed below will be drawn from a hat after the second round replays have been concluded (...and it's Darlington).
