Arsenal reserve match

Avon Insurance Combination, 19th December 1996

Arsenal 0 Wimbledon 2

Arsenal: Harper, Crowe, Taylor, MacDonald, Gislason, Woolsey, Black, Paolo Vernazza, Read, Rankin, David Donaldson

Wimbledon: noone famous!

Result 0-2 (0-1)
Attendance: not than many!

Rather a disappointing game after the last sensational seven nil victory over QPR, but interesting for a couple of things.

1) why weren't Shaw, Marshall, Parlour, Rose, McGowan not playing?

a) they are being rested for possible inclusion on saturday b) they are injured c) the coach(es) want to experiment.

If a, then I reckon McGowan might be on for a run out in which case I reckon he'll score! (I have a good record of seeing first goals and I am going to Forest)

2) where is Kiwomya? - does anyone in cyberspace know?

3) Harper played well, so maybe a future for him. He made some great saves including a penalty although he is a bit dodgy on crosses (must be contagious!)

4) Gislason played well in defence - so I don't think we'll ever be short of centrebacks!

Of the other players, Black looks like he has potential - fast and weaving if crap on the final cross/shot. Rankin is a bit similar and the rest were very mediocre (if thats not a contradiction in terms!).

Finally we're still playin 532 even though black's a winger and ross taylor is not attacking enough for a wingback. The wombles were playing 442 and generally thumping it over the top - so no change there!
