Manchester United (0) 1 - 0 (0) ArsenalOld Trafford, Saturday 16th November 96FA Carling PremiershipTeam: unchanged. no substitutions. Scorers: Winterburn (og)A little unlucky to not get away with a point after an exciting match . We missed a few chances, including a late Wright effort for an equaliser which he hit straight at Schmeichel after finding himself unmarked near the pernalty spot. Manchester United missed their share of sitters too but were rewarded with a right jammy effort. If anything it was Seaman's fault. A tackle/back-pass, heading for a corner near the goal, which could easily have been left alone or punted for a throw... Seaman tried to play the ball, it went too far away from him, and Cantona got to it and flashed a shot across goal which Winterburn was unfortunate to turn into his own net. Schmeichel was probably man-of-the-match, and for the first part of the match we had them reaslly worrried. But things evened up and it was always a game that was only going to be wokn by a single goal. Beckham got Vieira booked with an outrageous dive. Schmeichel got Wright booked after an incident where they both went in feet-first (Wright having pushed the ball slightly too far forward with his first touch after he'd been put clear with only Schmeichel to beat). Wright didn't appear to catch the kepper at all, but he was up on his feet making ugly faces at Wright straight away (yes, uglier than usual), and I find it hard to believe that Wright would have seen yellow if the keeper hadn't done it. It was shame because it wasn't an ugly game but there were a lot of bookings. Newcastle only drew with West Ham at St James's, but Liverpool beat Leeds and go above us in the table. Wimbledon also drew so are still a point behind us. Tottenham beat Sunderland 2-0 and we meet them next, on Sunday. More reports will follow as and if they come in.
