Arsenal won with an extremely late goal from Ian Wright, diving very low in the 6 yard box to connect with a cross whipped in from the right wing by Dennis Bergkamp.

The match was a dour and uninspiring encounter, with neither team really deserving to come away with even a point. The four central defenders were excellent, but apart from that there was nothing to cheer about for either set of fans till Wright snuck in for the winner.
