- Info for travelling fans
The following comes from Steven Powell of AISA
Greetings to all Gooners
For those travelling to Gelsenkirchen this week you might want to look at
the Shalke site which has an English version. This will give you details of
how to get to the ground and about the electronic Knappenkarte which you
need to buy refreshments in the ground (no cash accepted).
the site is at:
http://www.shalke04.de/english/anreise/htm
[See ArseWeb Schalke page for more info
and links]
You might also want to know that you do NOT need to buy public transport
tickets on match day when travelling to and from the ground. You just show
your match ticket. This works as far out as Dortmund, so those staying
there, Essen, Bochum Dusseldorf are covered.
Hopefully you'll not need it but the nearest British Consulate is in
Dusseldorf. The telephone number is 211 94480.
Finally, the usual large number of Arsenal Independent Supporters'
Association members will be out in Germany. If anybody is in dire straights
for any reason and needs a hand feel free to ring me on 00 44 7881 950613.
This is my mobile which will be on at all times.
Enjoy yourselves.

- Arsenal team news
With qualification assured (and no chance of topping the group)
we
can expect some changes.
Arsenal have not taken van Bronckhorst or Henry, both of whom are
rested (presumably Upson will continue at left back). Also Lauren
has a groin problem, and Vieira a back injury.
So who plays at right back?
With Bergkamp's absence through phobia and Jeffers continuing ankle
injury, Kanu and Wiltord seem certs to start up front.
Other fringe players expected to play include Kanu, Inamoto,
Luzhny, and Parlour.
But with Mallorca and Schalke still fighting over 3rd place
(and the UEFA cup place) it is important that Arsenal make a decent
showing. It's not been a problem in previous years, when the reserve
side put out in the last match has been known to do better than the
regulars!
update Monday
Ananova is reporting that Ashley Cole returns, and either Sol or Gilles
will partner Upson in central defence.
They also say that Edu is expected to get his Champs League debut, and
Inamoto could start for the first time. Aliadiere and Pennant are
expected to start on the bench.
Ray Parlour gets the captaincy, which Wenger has explicitly
explained as a signal to Ray that he's wanted at Arsenal.
- Schalke_04 team news
The player who, to me, looked their biggest threat: Gerald Asamoah,
is banned having picked up his 3rd yellow card against Panathinaikos
last week.
Marc Wilmots is a doubt with a thigh muscle strain. Strikers Victor Agali and
Emile Mpenza are injured (the latter following knee surgery).
