Highbury. Tuesday 18th December 2001
FA Carling Premiership
Preview
- Arsenal team news
Pires picked up a calf injury at West Ham on Sunday
and is expected to be out for 3 weeks. But he could
be ok, and so could Ray. See this newsreel story for more.
Adams is due to make a reserve team comeback the night before
this match. Dixon, Jeffers, Seaman, and Wright are all still out.
- Newcastle_United team news
Laurent Robert returns after missing the win over Blackburn
through injury. Craig Bellamy is also back having been suspended from
that game.
Injury absences are Warren Barton (knee), Rob Lee (groin),
Clarence Acuna (hamstring), and Christian Basseds (also hamstring).
Arsenal fan Carl Cort has been out for a while.
Newcastle have the weight of their london record hanging over them
(no win in the capital for some surprisingly long period of time).
But this may be overshadowed in their minds by the desire to
avenge their 5-0 thrashing last season.
A win for either side (actualoly it has to be a 2 goal win for United)
will put them top of the table
(although having played 1 more game than Liverpool),
