Anfield, Saturday 23rd December 2000, kick-off 11.30am
FA Carling Premiership
Preview
- Arsenal team news
Having come off the bench against Tottenham to good effect, and with no bad
after-effects, we expect Vieira to be back in the starting line-up.
Grimandi may drop out, or Parlour may switch to the right wing.
update friday
Adams is out. Luzhny may join Keown at the back or, after
the impressive recent performances of Vieira and Parlour in midfield,
Grimandi may move back to make room for both of them. There
are also reports that both Seaman and Lauren are a
few games away from returning.
- Liverpool team news
Dietmar Hamman will be missing as he tries to recover from an
ankle injury sustained against Olympiakos.
Christian Ziege is back in training but likely to be on the
bench at best. He's been out since injuring himself by kicking the dressing-room door after being substituted during Liverpool's defeat by Ipswich!
Bernard Diomede is also back in trainign after a knee op,
but won't be playing till the new year.
Heggem is out with a long-standing thigh problem, and
may require surgery.
Jamie Redknapp and Patrik Berger are also both out,
and unlikely to be back before the new year.
So, an impressive list of absentees on might think. Unfortunately, despite all that,
Liverpool are likely to field the same 11 that started (and won) against Man Utd
last weekend.
Owen and Heskey look set to start upfront, as rumours
abound about Fowler looking for a new club (Villa, Leeds, ???)
update Friday
Ziege is definitely out. French defender Djimi Traore
joins him on the injured list. He played a reserve match in midweek,
coming back from a hamstring injury, and it reacted slightly.
