Valley Parade, Saturday 9th September 2000
FA Carling Premiership
Preview
- Arsenal team news
Adams is still injured, so it's possible that Stepanovs
will get his debut. If Dixon is feeling the effects of Le Saux's
tackle still (last we heard, his knee was quite swollen still), we could see Luzhny in his place (I'd have said Lauren after he deputised well after Dixon went off against Chelsea, but Lauren will be on his way to the Olympics by then).
On the
other side, Silvinho is feeling the thigh strain which nearly saw him
come off at half-time against Chelsea (!). Ashley Cole may start.
Cole nearly came on for Winterburn at Valley Parade last year.
Bergkamp is likely to start, since he won't be going to Prague
for the European game on Tuesday.
Vieira sits out the 2nd of his 5 match suspension.
Wenger may have opted for a slightly changed team even without
these injuries , what with the first
Champions League game coming up next week. But it's crucial that we
don't take this game lightly, as they showed last year that Bradford
City will take what chances we give them. Hopefully getting them
this early in the season they
won't be feeling so desparate for points as they were last year. They'll be
feeling positive though, having already notched up a 2-0 home win over Chelsea
this season.
So, possible team:
Seaman;
Luznhy Keown Stepanovs Cole;
Ljungberg Parlour Grimandi Pires;
Bergkamp Wiltord/Henry

- Bradford team news
Dean Saunders is out having had a knee op.
But they've signed Benito Carbone, and Ashley Ward
could make his debut alongside aloowing Dean Windass to
rteunr to midfield. They've also recruited
Dan Petrescu, but he may not be fit having picked up am
injury playing for Romania last weekend (latest is that manager
Hutchings expects Petrescu to be ok). Peter Beagrie ia
also doubtful having not yet returned from an op in the summer.
Andy O'Brien is injured, putting pressure on the Bantam's
defensive line. Gunnar Halle had a bad time
at right back in the 6-0 drubbing by Man Utd last week, so Peter Atherton might
move put there with Andy Myers taking his place alongside David Wetherall
in central defence.
Bradford have no suspensions.
